Metal Arts
In this basic level Jewelry class students will work with their own designs to create small metal pieces. They
will explore different themes and learn a variety of construction techniques.

Project One / Theme - Horoscopes
(from different countries)
Using visuals in the room students  will make notes about their attributes in various cultures.  Images that are Egyptian, Indian African, Celtic, and Chinese are represented. From those attributes students will create a design .  The design will be used as a pattern for a
pierced metal project.

Project Two / Theme -Masks

Students will design a mask that uses multiple layers of metal. Repeating the skills they learned in the first project and adding a new skill riveting they will construct a small mask.

Project Three - Soldering
Theme/Animals

Students continue to refine their sawing and finishing skills in this piece. We practice using our torch by first making sample soldering joints.  Then students will use those skills  to attach two or more elements with solder and heat.
Scrap Metal Project
Using scrap metal in the room design a Metal Art
Project using the skills you learned.

Project Four - Spinner Rings

Students apply the soldering skills they have learned to made a  Band ring  with hammered edges that holds spinning elements. In this project students twist and form wire into rings, and learn about forming metal into a flange.
